Today is our first blog entry. We hope to use the blog as the primary means of news about Imago Dei Church. It will be a shared blog among a few selected individuals.
I (Tony) want to share some answers to common questions that I’ve received over the last few weeks about the plant. A lot of the questions are from people who are expressing interest in joining IDC. I hope these answers help. I’ve copied and pasted a few of them from an earlier email.
What’s the current news, and how can we stay up to date with what’s going on?
- The main news source is the blog. You can also follow us on twitter at IDCRALEIGH.
Are there any ways we can help right now?
- We need partners. If you know folks who will join us in prayer and/or financial support, we would really appreciate you connecting us with them. We will eventually need teams, as well to help with projects.
- Right now, we only have one church that has partnered with us financially, and one super-kind lady that brought me a jar of coins. (Partners can make checks out as noted on the home page).
- We have several local churches that we plan on partnering with. We’ve received a lot of encouragement from churches like The Summit, Southbridge Fellowship, Open Door, and Vintage 21. We will be talking to them more soon. We have sent out several letters to churches for support, as well.
- We need possible spaces to meet if you know anyone in RDU who has connections.
- We need people who love people and the Gospel so that we may reach the unbelievers of RDU.
- We are looking for people who are intentional disciple-makers who come to be a part of Imago Dei with a servant attitude and humble disposition.
Have you guys decided what part of town to meet in or are there any specific neighborhoods you’ll be focusing on?
- Great question. It’s actually the question we are asking! We have, as of now, boiled it down to two locations: Morrisville-Cary (which is near the Research Triangle and near Duke, UNC, and NC State), or Northeast Raleigh (around the Triangle Town Center, near Capitol 1, 401, and 540 intersection). Nate and I are having an extensive demographic study done on the whole area, and we are also driving around this weekend, for about the third time. We probably won’t know until the summer, once I move up there.
- My wife and I are renting a place through the summer at the seminary where I’m teaching (a 1200 sq. ft. town house!). We hope to decide before August, and hope to launch our first worship service in September.
Who do you plan on being affiliated with?
When are you moving to Raleigh?
- We are leaving Hattiesburg on May 13.

Hi,
We heard of the new church you will be planting through our friends the Mestas. We use to attend Providence Baptist and started their Adoption Ministry. We ran it for 5 years. We are currently attending Open Door. We have such heart for the orphan and have adopted 4. Two from Russia and two from Ethiopia. Would love to learn more about your church and meet with you the next time you are in town.
