You may be wondering, “What’s the latest news on Imago Dei?”
- Pastor Tony, his talented wife Kimberly (who just released a CD) and his 5 sweet children are moving into their new digs in Wake Forest the week of May 16th.
- Our worship leader Donnie, his wife Meghan and little boy Judah are moving to Raleigh in late May.
- Nathan, disciple-making pastor and Mexican restaurant devotee, is hard at work on the final stages of our prospectus, which should be mailed out within a week, to invite like-minded churches to partner with us in prayer and through financial support.
- Matt, the new guy on the team, has many administrative irons in the fire; his latest task was setting up a Paypal account for those who prefer electronic giving to snail mail; a link for this should soon be on the website and Facebook page.
- We have garnered a solid core team of 14 adults (and a baseball team of kids); we will begin meeting weekly as a team on June 5th.
- In August we plan to invite others to join us for worship.
- Our target for launching remains September; we know this will only happen through the grace and providence of God, so we ask you to please join us in prayer that God would work in the details and finances for this to occur.
- We are excited and humbled to be a part of this new church plant, and feel a little like kids on Christmas Eve, in breathless anticipation of morning. But far better than anything that comes in a box, we are awaiting the treasure of seeing new friends come to know the Lord.
What makes us sad is going to make you very glad! We know that for certain because Tony Merida and family are on their way to make Raleigh,NC their home. He is not your typical,run of the mill good ole baptist preacher that comes to the public tends to think of! The rest of the family is not either! Special does not do justice to them. Being filled with the Holy Spirit this man is a walking,talking,energized example of sanctifiction as it is meant to be. I don’t believe I have ever met anyone as knowlegable, inspiring yet down to earth gentleman. He says just what needs to be said to everyone depending upon what they need to be fed by the Holy Spirit. The thing that is so amazing is that says it at the same time! Such a gift indeed reveals the annointing and favor he has with The Lord. The love of God pours out of him and anyone that hears him will know just what I mean. My husband(Corky) and I will continue to keep up with him,if thats possible! He,his family and new church will be held up in our prayers. I have been so blessed by Tony at a point in my life that has been very trying I can not help but look forward to see what The Lord has planned for me on a daily basis.
