Tentative Timeline:
- June-July: We will meet as a core team for worship, prayer, fellowship, and study/discussion.
- August: We will invite others to join us for worship, and then have some training and planning sessions with the core team following the worship time.
- September: Lord willing, we will meet in a public space somewhere in N Raleigh for the beginning of corporate worship services.
Core Team Commitments:
As we begin to meet in the summer, probably on Sunday afternoons-evenings at the Merida home, we will begin thinking and planning together. It is essential that each core team member make the following commitments:
- Pray regularly and persistently for RDU and for the launch of Imago Dei Church.
- Maintain a consistent walk with Jesus, pursuing holiness.
- Be involved in the lives of unbelievers, beginning to identify a network for outreach (i.e., medical community, sports community, Hispanic community, etc). It is essential that we begin establishing relationships with outsiders. Let’s do the “air war” (worship/preaching) and “ground war” (building relationships) well.
- Be flexible, patient, and gracious as we move ahead. We will make a ton of mistakes, and try to “build the plane as we try to fly it” but it is going to be fun. Put on the glasses of grace and enjoy the journey.
- Be open and available to a wide range of roles and functions.
- Give financially. It is important that we begin IDC with the practice of generosity and faithful contribution, which we want to characterize our faith family.
