Mark Haugh is a member of Imago Dei who leads a group in prayer prior to the service on Sunday
The call to prayer and the power of prayer is found from Genesis through the book of Revelation. However, too often the modern western church has looked at prayer as a ritualistic saying at the start or finish of some religious endeavor; or to be used when things are desperate. That is not what God intended prayer to be. He intended it to be a daily, ongoing, regular, normal part of our every day life. God has chosen to move through our prayers. Here are just a few of the hundreds of scriptures on prayer:
The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
1 Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion,
and to you shall vows be performed.
2 O you who hear prayer,
to you shall all flesh come.
So come join Imago Dei as we pray every Sunday before church from 9:00 to 9:45. We will be praying for our church, pastors, worship team, the preaching of the word, community groups, etc. Don’t let a heavy heart stop you from coming as we want to take the first few minutes to pray for any who come who are struggling that morning. Don’t worry if you’re late or need to leave early. We will meet upstairs. Just take the stairs to the left of the coffee bar as you come into the school.
