Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.
Acts 20:28 ESV
The calling to shepherd the flock of God is a weighty responsibility and privilege. Recently, we had the joy of installing Donnie Hollis as a new elder at Imago Dei to help in shepherding and leading our people. At IDC, we unashamedly say that we are an “elder led church” that practices a flattened plurality where all four elder’s voice carries equal weight. This means that Donnie has entered into a sacred call to “pay careful attention to… the flock… which He obtained with His own blood” along with the other elders. We are grateful that, after we walked him through an extensive process of reading, leading, and examining, you confirmed him as the next Elder.
Hebrews 13:17 says, “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.” It is our hope that you would pray for Donnie (and all the elders) as he takes on this weighty responsibility and that you would make his shepherding of you “a joy.”
Here we provide the video for those that missed the confirmation and installation of Donnie Hollis as the fourth elder at Imago Dei.
