“Loose Change to Loosen Chains,” is a student lead campaign to raise money on behalf of those who are suffering great injustice in our world. The International Justice Mission exists to help people who are oppressed by all forms of modern day slavery. Imago Dei Church is passionate about helping IJM in any way that we can, because we believe Isaiah 1:17 which says, “learn to do good; seek justice; correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.”
It can be challenging for students who want to help these people, but don’t know where to start. We tell them that even beyond raising money, prayer is the most impactful way that all of us can make a difference. Our God is a just God. He wants justice to be something on all of our hearts and minds, so that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to pray. We are thankful that along with prayer, God gave us another way that our students could help fight injustice through LC2LC.
The students decorated cups for their change back at the end of December, and from January until the end of February, they collected money from any place they could find it! Sofa cushions, laundry, around their room, and many even donated their hard earned allowance and Christmas money. Our students worked hard to help out with this campaign and our Grand total was $422! We had alot of fun counting all the money together and we can’t wait to participate in LC2LC next year!
