This past Sunday, our Girls Growth Group delivered over 700 lbs of canned goods to the Raleigh Rescue Mission. After we unloaded our cans, a man named DJ gave us a tour of the building. We saw a room filled with beds, where they offer women and their children a place to sleep. He showed us where they offer classes for people to learn life skills and get their GEDs. We saw the kitchen where they feed the hungry and a daycare for children to learn and play.
The Raleigh Rescue Mission does all of these things and more for our community, and they do it all for the Lord. They are committed to helping people’s physical needs and spiritual needs. Even in DJ’s own life, he shared with us how God can turn anyone’s life around. He told us how his father was consumed in Alcoholism, but that at the age of fifty-four, he stopped drinking and his heart was changed with love for the Lord and his family. This is one of the many experiences that God has used to call DJ to be his hands and feet at the Raleigh Rescue Mission.
Needless to say, it was so encouraging for our Girls Growth Group, as well as the adults who were present, to hear these testimonies of the Lord at work in our city! G3 will continue to work with this organization and we are so excited for how the Lord will use us for His kingdom!
