New Sermon Series Beginning March 17 with Steve Timmis
This Sunday, March 10, we will complete our study of Ephesians, as we look at Ephesians 6:10-24. (It’s an amazing text. Hopefully, I can expound it effectively in 45 minutes!). What an amazing study this has been. We have soared with Paul, as he’s taught us about deep, eternal, mysterious truths about our salvation. Truths like regeneration, election, redemption, adoption, forgiveness, the indwelling Spirit, reconciliation with God and others, being raised and seated with Christ, and the glory of the church have awed us. We have also walked with Paul, as he has taught us about practical matters like how to maintain unity in the church, how to have harmony in the home, how to raise children faithfully, and how to work our jobs as servants of the Lord Jesus. This Sunday, we will study the cosmic war that we are caught up in, and how we need to put on the whole armor of God.
Next Sunday, March 17, we begin a five-week series that we’re calling Christ and Community. On the 17th, we are hosting Steve Timmis, a friend from Sheffield and the Director of Acts 29 Western Europe, who has authored several wonderful works including Total Church. He has really influenced Imago Dei. You can hear him, when we say things like, “There are two things we offer to you: Gospel and Community” or “We don’t ‘go to church’ for we are the church. We may go to the “church building” – for the church is not a building or an event, but a people… God is forming a people.” I told Steve of this aroma at IDC, and he said, “This is music to my ears.” Let’s welcome this brother with gospel hospitality, as we sit under his teaching.
Here is the tentative schedule for the series:
March 17 – Steve Timmis (Deuteronomy)
March 24 – Tony (Mark 14:12-ff The Guest Room, the Garden and Golgotha)
March 31 (Easter) – Tony (John 20, The Empty Tomb) [With Baptisms]
April 7 – Tony (TBA)
April 14 – Nate (Acts 2:42-47)
Following this series, our tentative plan is to begin 1-2 Kings on April 21
