Well greetings, alas, may I borrow your ear? …And might I ask what your plans are for Christmas this year?
This year at Imago Dei Church, December 7th, we will be celebrating the advent season through concert! (If you were here with us last year, you know exactly what I am talking about)
…the time has come, once again, to celebrate “The Christ of Christmas”.
What Is It?
In my mind, the Christmas season is a good friend to Christians. Make no mistake, I am not making an argument for the genesis of its origination. I am simply suggesting that this season is a time of the year where, culturally speaking, pretty much everyone is open to Christians talking about the incarnation of Christ and sharing the gospel! What is equally surprising about this time of the year, is that culture is not only open to hearing about Jesus… but they even EXPECT it–they even sing songs about it! It is because of that expectation that I wanted to make a resource that would aid in highlighting the glory of the incarnation of God, and help draw attention to how edifying a gospel centered embrace of the season can be. The resulting product is an album called, “The Christ of Christmas” (Feel free to take a listen to it here: http://lampmode.bandcamp.com/album/the-christ-of-christmas). The concert we will be hosting is a live presentation of this whole Christmas album with the addition of some excellent hymns being led by some of our incredibly gifted musicians at IDC! It will be FREE for everyone, so the more the merrier!
