If you’re a covenant member, attender, or regular follower of Imago Dei Church, you’ve probably heard and seen that we recently moved into our own space, located at 7041 Old Wake Forest Road in north Raleigh (near the intersection of Capital Blvd and I-540). These are indeed exciting times in the life of Imago Dei Church, which was launched just 8 months ago on Sept. 11, 2011. After 7 months of holding corporate worship at East Millbrook Middle School, we are now able to gather for corporate worship, hold classes, fellowship and conduct many other ministries at our very own facility. God has indeed blessed us and we are grateful for His grace and provision.
East Millbrook provided an excellent location and facility for corporate worship, and we are thankful to the staff and faculty of the school for their hospitality these past seven months. But as many of you are aware, weekly setup and breakdown is grueling, as was the challenge of only having access to the facility for 4 hours per week. Now that we have our own facility we have access 24/7 and no longer have to do setup and breakdown every week. What a blessing that is! Furthermore, we now have a facility that will allow us to minister to the Imago Dei Church body and Raleigh in ways we couldn’t have previously. Since we moved in two weeks ago, in addition to regular corporate worship, we’ve used the building for an Easter potluck lunch and the newly launched MIT Boys Growth Group that meets on Thursday evenings. The worship band also now has a ideal location for weekly rehearsal, instead of Pastor Tony’s living room which they’d been using since we launched.
And this is just the beginning! This Wednesday, April 18th @ 7:30pm, IDC will host A Night on Human Slavery, a service to promote prayer and advocacy for human trafficking, bonded labor, and other forms of oppression. MIT will continue to meet at the building on Thursday evenings at 6pm, and IDC will also host regular discipleship seminars on a quarterly basis.
To give you a little history and background on this new facility, we signed the lease in late February after several weeks of prayer and discussions. We then took the month of March to remodel the space while we continued to hold corporate worship at East Millbrook. Remodeling was quite an undertaking and involved countless hours of service from Imago Dei members and friends. We are extremely grateful for the service, time, and many gifts of those that helped make this vision a reality. We’re also grateful for our church partners that aided us with financial and prayer support.
In just 4 weeks the space was transformed with new paint, lighting, furniture, decorations, and AV equipment to create a facility that now provides an excellent environment to worship, care for children, meet, share meals, conduct classes and seminars and minister to our community and members. The remodeled space also clearly reflects the vision and character of Imago Dei, including many personal touches and marks of unique craftsmanship. If you haven’t visited the new building we invite you to do so. We’ve also included some “before and after” photos here so you can get an idea of what the space looked like prior to and after remodeling.
Thanks again for all those that gave of their time and resources to make this happen. We also praise and thank our gracious God for this new facility and all those that gather and serve there.
